Mushroom Lighter Cover Keychain Free Crochet Pattern

This is made with worsted weight yarn and an F hook. Will fit a standard Bic lighter

This is a free pattern. This will explain to you how to make your own if you already know how to crochet. If you can't crochet you can buy one in my etsy or you can use you tutorials on YouTube to learn how to crochet @crochetbybonnie

Make sure to periodically measure your stem with a lighter to ensure your gauge matches mine. If it does not try to stitch tighter/looser as needed, go up/down a hook size, or add/subtract stitches. You want it to be snug around a lighter so it can't fall out, but still loose enough to get it on.

White (or other color; this is the stem piece)

Round 1: chain 5, SC in 2nd from hook, HDC in next 2, 3 SC in next (start working down the other end of the chain) HDC in next 2, 2 SC in last, slip stitch into first
Round 2: chain 1, SC in FLO around, slip stitch
Rounds 3-13: chain 1, HDC around, slip stitch

Fasten off, weave in both ends

With color used attach to one side, chain 9, chain into the key chain, chain 9, slip stitch into starting chain
Fasten ends

With red (or mushroom top color desired)
Round 1: Chain 6, HDC around, 3 in end, HDC down backside, 2 HDC in end, slip stitch
Round 2: chain 2, DC around, slip stitch
Round 3: chain 3, triple crochet around
Round 4: chain 2, (HDC, chain 1) around, slip stitch fasten off

Use white to sew in polka dots onto the mushroom top, use the end of the tail to attach the mushroom top to the stitch where the chain was added. Leave about 1/4 inch to allow the top to easily remove when needed. Weave in ends securely
